WORKING INSTRUCTIONS Back: work 6 rows in garter st., equal to 2 cm. Cont. in knit st. To shape the sides decr. at ends, inside 5 sts., 1 st. every 10 rows 3 times; when work measures a total of 18 (19-20) cm. from border incr. at ends 1 st. every 8 rows 3 times. When work measures a total of 30 (32- 34) cm. from border, to shape the sleeve holes decr. at ends, inside the first and last 4 sts. from work in garter stitch, 2 sts., every 2 rows 3 (4-5) times, 1 st. every 4 rows twice. When work measures a total of 12 (13-14) cm. from beg. of sleeve holes, for the final border cont. over all the sts. in garter stitch. After 1 cm. cast off the rem. 75 (77-79) sts. Front: same way as back. Cont. establishing the sts. as follows: 35 sts. in knit st., 21 sts. for the fan pattern, 35 (38-41) sts. in knit st. At ends shape the sides and work the sleeve holes in same way as back. When work measures a total of 9 (10-11) cm. from beg. of sleeve holes, for the border of the neckline cont. in garter stitch over the 51 (53-55) centre sts. keeping work as established prev. over the rem. stitches. After 1 cm., to shape the neckline cast off the 43 (45-47) centre sts. and end the two parts separately; decr. centrewise, inside 4 sts. to be worked in garter stitch, 1 st. every 2 rows 3 times. When work measures a total of 3 cm. from beg. of neckline stand off the rem. 13 sts. for each shoulder. To shape the group of 3 shoulder straps (for each shoulder) pick up the first 4 standing sts. of one shoulder and work in garter stitch for 25 (27-29) cm.; cast off the sts. Pick up the next 5 standing stitches, work in garter stitch decreasing 1 st. at the middle over the first row. and work a shoulder strap like the prev.. Pick up the last 4 standing sts. and work a shoulder strap like the prev. Prepare in same way the group of 3 shoulder straps on the other shoulder.
